Anemone…Slowing Down and Noticing Nature’s Gifts

Anemone coronaria…a beautiful bloom in my winter garden

I have realized that nature knows me. Yep — sounds weird, but when I have not been in the garden, my creativity is thwarted. I believe Mother Nature is having an emotional moment. With the temperatures quite irregular, a January day when it just might reach 70 degrees says a lot.

As a gardener, I have learned to adjust and endure. Accepting that our climate is changing and anything is possible. I noticed an unfamiliar bud in a pot on my doorstep. It has captured my attention since before Christmas. The end result simply makes me smile, as I sort through my collection of unplanted seeds, bulbs and corms for National Seed Swap Day. Now that I know what can happen, I am not throwing anything away. Instead, I will plant my older items and exercise patience. Giving things another chance to bring beauty into my word can bring results like a shriveled anemone corm has done.
